Moran Iron Works in Onaway, MI, is seeking a dynamic Technical Cost Estimator to deliver accurate cost estimates for structural steel, heavy fabrication, marine, and industrial projects. You will analyze drawings, specs, labor, and material data to support bidding, pricing, and planning.

The role involves preparing bid worksheets, take-offs, and documentation; consulting with clients, vendors, and internal teams to resolve scope questions and adjust estimates.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in business, Engineering, Construction Management, or related field.
• Attend estimating, project management, fabrication, quality systems, and industry seminars to maintain standards.

Responsabilités

• Analyze drawings, specifications, contract documents, and project requirements to prepare time, cost, material, and labor estimates.
• Prepare cost estimates, bid worksheets, material take-offs, labor calculations, and proposal documentation for structural steel and fabrication projects.
• Consult with clients, vendors, subcontractors, and internal departments to obtain pricing, resolve scope questions, and adjust estimates as needed.
• Collect, organize, and maintain historical cost data, vendor pricing, and project documentation to support current and future estimates.
• Evaluate project scope, technical requirements, and customer specifications to identify pricing considerations, cost risks, and estimate adjustments.
• Assess project cost effectiveness by reviewing bid results, actual costs, pricing considerations, and estimating accuracy.
• Utilize Excel, ERP/CRM systems, and project tracking tools to maintain estimate records, bid documentation, and cost data.
• Support management in bidding, pricing, and proposal decisions through accurate cost analysis and estimating processes.
• Assisting with proposal coordination and bid preparation activities related to project opportunities.
• Supporting project scheduling, estimate tracking, and internal coordination activities.
• Participating in customer, vendor, and subcontractor communications regarding pricing, scope clarification, and proposal support.
