Job summary

PDM is seeking a Steel Procurement Specialist to source, negotiate, and purchase steel materials for operations. You will help develop phased purchasing plans, ensure cost-effective procurement, and collaborate with project management, detailing, and plant leadership.

Responsibilities include supporting the Purchasing Manager, building vendor relationships, and handling material take-offs and production packets. Prior experience in steel procurement and vendor management is preferred.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED; 2-year degree a plus.
• Experience in steel industry; procuring, managing vendor agreements, plant environment.
• Ability to read blueprints, scopes of work, purchase orders and invoices.

Responsibilities

• Support our Purchasing Manager
• Develop strong relationships with PDM Vendors
• Perform material take-offs
• Commercial Sequence and Lotting
• Process and manage IC/Commercial sales orders
• Assist in managing and ordering from 1st tier suppliers/material
• Communicate with vendors on issues and hold vendors accountable
• Review drawings redline and resubmit as needed
• Work with PM's on Seq/Lot strategy and update PM Summary
• Combine/Nest and order material as needed
• Submit production packets
• Provide support with estimating
• Training and support of EPM functions through all departments
• Manage Steel shop EPM functionality and quality
• Coordinate with all departments concerning drawing and detailing information
• Work closely with Foreman to schedule parts processing
• Perform inventory investigations
