Job summary

Smith is seeking a Purchasing Specialist in New York, NY to lead sourcing, negotiate prices, and manage purchase orders. You will build strong vendor relationships and work with Sales, Operations, and Accounting to meet customer needs.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree preferred or equivalent experience in purchasing.
• General knowledge of supply chain management.

Responsibilities

• Work collaboratively with internal customers (ie. Sales) to increase revenue and maintain customer satisfaction.
• Develop, establish, build and maintain solid vendor relationships.
• Required sourcing, price negotiation and expedition of purchase orders (POs).
• Execute and manage POs and dispute resolutions in a timely manner.
• Develop and demonstrate working knowledge of Smith’s purchasing methodology, commodities, services, industry standards, and terminology.
• Interface with Operations and Accounting departments to ensure PO’s are processed seamlessly and meet the needs of the customer.
