Job summary

Smith Industries, located in West Texas and the Permian Basin area, seeks a Buyer who will manage material and service purchases, negotiate contracts, and coordinate deliveries to meet schedule and cost targets. You will work closely with vendors and internal teams to ensure quality, timing, and value.

The role requires strong purchasing experience, Excel/Word proficiency, and knowledge of applicable standards. Eligibility to work in the United States is required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent experience.
• Proficiency in Excel and Word.
• Knowledge of industry standards such as API/ASME.
• Strong vendor negotiation abilities.

Responsibilities

• Receive and review requisitions, expedite orders as needed.
• Communicate with vendors for pricing, availability, and delivery schedules.
• Estimate costs using market knowledge and quotes.
• Determine procurement method (direct purchase or bid).
• Evaluate products for purchase through testing or inspection.
• Review proposals and negotiate contracts within budget.
