Job summary

Xcel Energy in Minnesota is seeking a Sourcing Project Specialist to lead sourcing for large capital projects, negotiate contracts, and manage supplier performance. You will mentor junior staff, manage project plans, and coordinate with internal stakeholders to optimize outcomes.

The role requires significant experience in purchasing, sourcing or logistics, plus strong contract knowledge and project management skills. Occasional travel up to 20% may be needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required in relevant field or equivalent experience.
• Five years of purchasing, sourcing or logistics experience.
• Project management experience is a plus.
• Significant contract knowledge, negotiation and project management skills required.
• Extensive knowledge in sourcing and supply chain management principles.
• Pursue and maintain CPSM certification or equivalent.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and purchasing/sourcing systems.

Responsibilities

• SOURCING - Source high-value, complex goods and services for major capital projects (up to $50M) and define bid requirements and terms.
• PROJECT MANAGEMENT - Create and manage project plans, coordinate resources, and track status with key stakeholders.
• NEGOTIATIONS - Develop negotiation strategies and lead negotiations for major project purchases.
• SUPPLIER MANAGEMENT - Track supplier performance, manage relationships, and align with category strategies.
• RISK CONTAINMENT - Manage contract risk and ensure required documents and notices are in place.
• MENTORING - Coach and develop junior staff in sourcing event management and contract processes.
