Job summary

Shift5 is seeking a Senior Buyer & Strategic Sourcing Specialist to own day-to-day purchasing and strategic sourcing across hardware, components, and materials. You will collaborate with Engineering, Hardware, Manufacturing, and Finance to ensure cost, quality, and timely delivery.

Ideal candidates bring 5+ years in procurement with strong supplier management, BOM and ERP/MRP familiarity, and the ability to lead RFP/RFQ processes and negotiate favorable terms.

Qualifications

• 5+ years in purchasing, procurement, strategic sourcing, or supply chain.
• Experience purchasing hardware, components, or manufactured goods.
• Strong supplier management with pricing, lead times, and terms.
• Experience with BOMs, POs, inventory, and ERP/MRP systems.
• Ability to partner with Engineering and Production teams.

Responsibilities

• Own end-to-end purchasing for hardware, components, and materials.
• Source, evaluate, negotiate with suppliers to optimize cost and quality.
• Lead RFP/RFQ processes for strategic sourcing and contract manufacturing.
• Negotiate pricing, terms, MOQs, and other commercial terms.
• Manage POs, confirmations, delivery schedules, and supplier follow-up.
• Align with Engineering and Production on BOMs and material needs.
• Support new product introductions with early sourcing input.
• Identify supply risks and develop mitigation strategies.
• Track supplier performance, lead times, and material availability.
• Coordinate with Finance on budgets and approvals.
