Job summary

SpaceX is seeking a Sourcing Specialist, OPEX for Starlink in a high-velocity production environment. You will partner with engineering and manufacturing to develop and execute sourcing strategies, manage supplier performance, and drive cost savings across both direct and indirect categories.

The role requires hands-on procurement experience, strong analytics (Excel/SQL/PowerBI), and an ability to navigate complex contracts while communicating effectively with internal teams and suppliers.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or 2+ years of experience in purchasing, procurement, material planning, production planning, supply chain management, or engineering in lieu of a degree.
• Experience with MRP/ERP systems, BOMs, work orders, and purchase orders.
• Forecasting, demand planning, and lead time analysis.
• Detail-oriented, fast-moving environment, able to prioritize multiple projects.
• Strong track record for achieving results with quantified impact.
• Data analysis skills using Excel, SQL and PowerBI.
• Understanding of manufacturing processes and machines (mills, lathes, etc).
• APICS/Six Sigma certification or similar is a plus.
• Strong written and verbal communications; ability to work across levels.
• Ability to learn quickly and prioritize to meet needs.

Responsibilities

• Place purchase orders and resolve blocked invoices for assigned category.
• Forecast demand, evaluate capacity, and manage supply signals.
• Track high risk components and supplier delivery performance.
• Communicate clearly to influence vendor and leadership decisions.
• Interpret engineering drawings and BOMs for sourcing.
• Create sourcing strategies for custom items, COTS hardware, and indirect categories.
• Develop a preferred supplier network to reduce cost and lead time.
• Manage outsource fabrication projects and vendor performance.
• Conduct onsite reviews of vendor capabilities.
• Authored contracts with the legal department and ensured contract obligations.
• Negotiate to maximize value while reducing risk.
