Job summary

Fortune 500 energy utility in Houston is seeking a Strategic Sourcing Specialist to lead sourcing for construction materials, equipment, and services supporting large-scale infrastructure. You will drive supplier evaluations, RFPs, and contract awards, collaborating with engineering and operations to meet demanding project timelines.

The ideal candidate has 5+ years in strategic sourcing, strong SAP and Excel skills, and a track record of optimizing total cost of ownership across

Qualifications

5+ years of strategic sourcing, procurement, or category management experience.
Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Engineering, or a related field.
Experience independently managing sourcing projects, supplier evaluations, competitive bidding, and contract negotiations.
Experience sourcing construction materials, direct materials, PVF, or MRO supplies strongly preferred.
Experience in utilities, energy, oil and gas, EPC, industrial manufacturing, or large-scale construction preferred.
Experience negotiating supplier contracts, commercial terms, and pricing agreements.
Knowledge of category management, spend analysis, supplier performance, and total cost of ownership.
Experience managing procurement spend portfolios of $10 million or more preferred.
SAP experience and advanced Microsoft Excel proficiency required.

Responsibilities

Develop and execute sourcing strategies for construction materials, pipes, PVF, MRO, and capital projects over $10 million.
Manage competitive bidding processes, including RFPs, RFQs, supplier evaluations, and contract awards.
Negotiate supplier pricing, terms, delivery schedules, and service agreements.
Analyze purchasing data, commodity pricing, and supplier markets to identify cost-saving opportunities.
Evaluate supplier capabilities, financial stability, risks, and performance.
Partner with engineering, construction, and operations to establish material specs and purchasing requirements.
Develop supplier relationships and monitor delivery, contract compliance, and service quality.
Apply category management and total cost of ownership to sourcing decisions.
Identify opportunities to consolidate purchasing and reduce procurement expenses.
