Job summary

athenahealth is seeking a Senior Associate, Procurement based in Brighton, MA with a hybrid work setup to drive strategic sourcing and vendor partnerships. You will execute data-driven procurement strategies, analyze spend, and mitigate risk while negotiating favorable terms with suppliers.

The role reports to the Director, Procurement and requires a 2+ year track record in procurement, spend analysis, and contract management.

Qualifications

• Undergraduate degree in Procurement, Supply Chain Management, Finance, or Business preferred.
• A minimum of 2+ years of experience in Procurement, Spend Analysis, Strategic Sourcing, or Source-to-Pay processes.
• Proven track record in negotiating contracts and managing vendor relationships.
• Advanced knowledge of procurement cost structures, drivers, and related analytic tools.
• Strong financial analytic acumen with the ability to translate data into actionable insights.

Responsibilities

• Develop and execute indirect category sourcing strategies based on spend analysis.
• Translate spend data into actionable category plans to improve ROI and bottom‑line performance.
• Build trust with internal stakeholders and vendor partners to align with requirements.
• Negotiate contracts to secure favorable terms and mitigate risk.
• Establish and monitor metrics for vendor performance and process efficiency.
• Lead RFx events to optimize terms and drive cost savings.
• Provide updates on procurement metrics to leadership and business units.
• Identify and implement continuous improvements across procurement processes and systems.
• Support usage of procurement toolsets for spend analysis and source-to-pay management.
• Track market evaluations and price movements to identify alternative suppliers.
