Job summary

U.S. Bank is seeking a Principal Solution Architect to lead technology architecture strategy for the Investment Services Portfolio, guiding target-state architecture and multi-year roadmaps.

You will advise senior leaders and oversee complex, high-risk initiatives across cloud, data, and applications. You will mentor architects, translate business strategy into technology priorities, and ensure alignment with security, governance, and regulatory requirements while shaping enterprise standards

Qualifications

• Eight or more years of relevant experience.
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent.
• Experience leading architecture for complex portfolios and domains.
• Strong knowledge of SDLC, distributed systems, microservices, APIs, event-driven architecture, and cloud.

Responsibilities

• Own and evolve portfolio architecture strategy, target state, and multi-year technology roadmap.
• Translate business strategy and regulatory needs into technology priorities and investment recommendations.
• Lead portfolio architecture governance for consistency, reuse, and enterprise alignment.
• Oversee architecture for complex, high-risk initiatives across applications, platforms, data, integration, cloud, and emerging tech.
• Lead modernization across cloud, platform engineering, and tech debt reduction.
• Identify systemic architecture risks and balance outcomes, cost, speed, risk, and sustainability.
• Align architectures with security, privacy, governance, and regulatory requirements.
• Establish reusable patterns and guardrails to accelerate delivery while ensuring quality and compliance.
• Advise senior leaders through architecture reviews and strategic roadmaps, communicating tradeoffs clearly.
• Mentor architects and influence strategy across the organization.
