Job summary

First Command Financial Services, Inc. seeks a Senior Solution Architect to define architecture across enterprise platforms, data domains, and integrations.

You will lead architectural decisions to ensure scalable, secure, and maintainable solutions while guiding delivery teams from discovery through implementation. You will mentor engineers, drive governance, and develop architecture artifacts aligned with business processes and strategy.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree preferred; 5 years of experience may be considered in lieu of degree.
• 7+ years of progressive technology experience focused on software development, systems integration, or solution delivery.
• 3+ years leading solution architecture engagements and providing technical direction across cross-functional teams.

Responsibilities

• Lead solution engagements from discovery through delivery by facilitating solution definition and alignment.
• Define solution architecture across systems, integrations, data domains, security, scalability, reliability, and operational support.
• Define and communicate architectural direction, guiding principles, standards, and roadmaps for solution areas.
• Provide architectural leadership and governance throughout the delivery lifecycle to stay aligned with direction.
• Develop proofs of concept and prototypes to evaluate feasibility, risks, and trade-offs.
• Mentor engineers and architects on solution design, architecture practices, and technical standards.
• Define, evolve, and promote architecture standards, reference patterns, and best practices.
• Establish and enforce architectural standards, patterns, and governance across teams.
• Apply product, process, data, security, integration, and enterprise technology context to decisions.
• Facilitate cross-functional collaboration to drive alignment and informed technical decisions.
• Serve as escalation point for architecture-related issues and governance exceptions.
• Document architectural decisions, alternatives, trade-offs, and supporting rationale.
• Define and maintain architecture artifacts such as system context diagrams and data flows.
• Identify, communicate, and mitigate architectural risks and technical debt.
• Define non-functional requirements including security, scalability, reliability, and maintainability.
• Provide leadership for initiatives spanning multiple systems and teams.
• Facilitate knowledge transfer across teams and stakeholders.
• Ensure documentation has context and rationale for future enhancement.
• Pursue continuous education to stay current with architecture practices and technologies.
• Lead architectural design for new systems and major enhancements.
