The Judge Group is seeking a Seafood Buyer in Darlington, SC to manage fresh, frozen, and value‑added seafood purchasing for a high‑volume distribution center serving thousands of customers regionally. Analyze markets, negotiate pricing, secure supplier partnerships, ensure product availability, and maintain compliance with FDA/HACCP.

Build relationships with top seafood suppliers, manage contracts, monitor market volatility, and support sales with product knowledge and pricing insights.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required; Bachelor's degree preferred.
• 2+ years of purchasing experience—seafood experience required.
• Background in retail, wholesale, broadline foodservice distribution, or multi‑unit restaurant purchasing.
• Strong negotiation, communication, and vendor‑management skills.
• Ability to analyze market trends and make informed buying decisions.
• Highly organized, detail‑driven, and comfortable in a fast‑paced environment.

Responsabilités

• Build and manage relationships with top seafood suppliers, ensuring quality, service, and sustainability.
• Negotiate pricing, freight, quantities, and long‑term agreements to secure competitive costs.
• Track global seafood markets, quotas, seasonality, and catch volumes to anticipate supply and pricing shifts.
• Maintain strong in‑stock positions and respond quickly to urgent product needs.
• Partner with warehouse teams to ensure proper rotation, temperature control, and handling of perishable seafood.
• Minimize shrink and obsolete inventory through proactive forecasting and strategic purchasing.
• Support sales with product knowledge, pricing insights, and category expertise.
• Ensure compliance with FDA, HACCP, and company food safety standards.
