Job summary

Southern Company in Atlanta, GA (or Birmingham, AL) seeks a Supply Chain category management professional to maximize value for the Generation Business Unit. You will collaborate with internal stakeholders and suppliers to reduce total cost of ownership and improve procurement processes.

The role emphasizes category strategy development, bid management, contract negotiations, supplier performance, and cross-functional leadership within asset-intensive energy environments.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in supply chain, business, technology, finance or related technical discipline preferred.
• Education or experience in contracts is a plus.
• Industry certifications (CPM, CPSM, CPCM or CCCM) are desirable.
• Experience with category management and strategic sourcing is required.

Responsibilities

• Develops and executes category plans to drive cost savings and risk management.
• Supervises activities for assigned categories and conducts market research.
• Typically manages between $100M - $300M in annual spend.
• Leads negotiations and oversees all stages of strategic procurement.
• Facilitates supplier performance measurement and drives improvements.
