Job summary

Southern Company Services in the Atlanta metro region seeks an experienced Category Manager to lead strategic sourcing across renewable energy categories (solar, wind, battery storage). You will develop category plans, manage spend, and partner with Business Unit clients to drive value and reduce total cost of ownership.

The role requires strong negotiation, project management, and cross-functional collaboration with senior stakeholders, suppliers, and legal teams to deliver measurable cost

Responsibilities

• Develops and executes category plans identifying opportunities for cost savings, risk mitigation, and innovation.
• Oversees category activities including market research, supplier development, and pricing strategies.
• Typically manages between $100M - $300M in annual spend.
• Leads negotiations and governs all stages of strategic procurement.
• Facilitates supplier performance measurement and drives improvements.
• Manages supplier alliances and supports internal supplier management efforts.
• Analyzes spend, forecasts demand, builds cost models, and computes total cost of ownership.
