Des Moines Public School District invites applications for the Chief Financial Officer to lead budgeting, accounting, and financial reporting for the 2027–2028 school year. The CFO reports to the Superintendent and participates in the district's cabinet, applying independent judgment and strategic foresight in district finance.

The role includes directing the district’s budget, maintaining GAAP compliance, and coordinating audits, with a focus on improving efficiency and student outcomes.

Formación

• Advanced degree in accounting, business, or public administration or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
• Ten years experience in school business administration or public accounting.
• Certified Public Accountant (CPA) and SBFO license or ability to obtain.

Responsabilidades

• Coordinate major financial initiatives in the district in collaboration with the superintendent.
• Lead cross‑functional teams to improve financial efficiency and resource allocation.
• Coordinate external audits and serve on the board's audit committee.
• Direct preparation of the district’s annual financial reports and budget presentations.
• Oversee treasury management and investment of district funds.
• Attend Board meetings as a resource for the Superintendent and Board.
