Job summary

FedEx Freight, Inc. is seeking a tax professional to lead sales and use tax return compliance, exemption certificate administration, and related advisory work.

You will partner with procurement, accounts payable, legal, and finance teams to ensure accurate tax treatment on transactions and timely filings. The role requires deep knowledge of multi-jurisdictional tax rules, strong data analysis in Excel, and ability to manage internal and external stakeholders.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Taxation, Business, or a related field required.
• Five (5) years of relevant sales and use tax or indirect tax experience.
• Experience with multi-jurisdictional tax returns, exemption certificates, and audits.
• Strong written communication and stakeholder management skills.
• CPA license or taxation advanced degree preferred.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate and review monthly, quarterly, and annual sales and use tax returns across jurisdictions.
• Reconcile return data to tax accounts and support use tax accruals.
• Oversee tax bills and payments, reconciling assessments and deadlines.
• Research taxability on products, services, and other transactions.
• Provide guidance to procurement, AP, finance, IT, and operations teams.
• Identify exemptions and collaborate with procurement to deploy them.
• Oversee third-party inputs and improve processes, controls, and reporting.
• Support tax determination systems and data queries for compliance.
• Respond to audits and notices with drafted positions and resolutions.
