Job summary

Boston Dynamics seeks a Senior Staff Commodity Manager to lead strategic sourcing and strengthen global supplier partnerships for its robotics platforms. This onsite role in Waltham, MA will influence product outcomes, cost structures, and supply continuity in a fast-growing environment.

You will own global commodity strategies, negotiate with suppliers, and drive TCO analyses while collaborating with engineering and manufacturing to align procurement with company goals.

Qualifications

• Strong experience in global sourcing, commodity strategy, and supplier management.
• Background with complex electromechanical or robotics components (actuators, sensors, machined parts).
• Expertise in cost modeling, negotiation strategy, and supplier economics.
• Proven ability to lead cross-functional initiatives and influence stakeholders.
• Experience managing supplier performance, escalations, and risk mitigation.

Responsibilities

• Own and execute global commodity strategies for complex categories across multiple robotics lines.
• Translate market intelligence into action—anticipate cost trends, supply risks, and capacity constraints.
• Partner with engineering, manufacturing, planning and quality to align procurement with goals.
• Lead supplier selection, negotiations, and contract execution for value and quality.
• Drive cost modeling and total cost of ownership analysis for decisions.
• Support design-for-supply chain and make-vs-buy to influence architecture.
• Assist NPIs with timely, cost-effective sourcing of critical components.
• Identify and mitigate risks across the global supply base.
• Monitor supplier performance and drive improvements.
• Maintain procurement/ERP integrity across sourcing structures.
• Mentor junior team members and grow high-performing procurement function.
