Job summary

Chemelex in Houston, TX is seeking a Strategic Sourcing-Commodity Lead to oversee the sourcing, procurement, and supply management of resins, chemicals, and related raw materials. You will ensure supply continuity, manage supplier relationships, and drive cost-reduction initiatives across manufacturing teams.

The ideal candidate has 2-4 years of procurement or supply chain experience within manufacturing, with a background in resins and chemicals and proficiency in SAP and Excel.

Qualifications

• 2-4 years of purchasing, procurement, inventory management, or supply chain experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Experience in commodity management or sourcing/procurement of resins and chemicals.
• Bachelor's degree preferred in related field.

Responsibilities

• Manage procurement and supply planning for resins, chemicals, additives, and related raw materials.
• Develop and maintain supplier relationships to meet quality, delivery, and cost objectives.
• Monitor inventory with planning teams to prevent shortages and excess inventory.
• Analyze market trends, pricing, capacity constraints, and supply risks in resins and chemicals.
• Negotiate pricing, contracts, lead times, and terms with suppliers.
• Support supplier qualification, performance reviews, and corrective actions.
• Coordinate with operations, quality, engineering, and logistics to ensure uninterrupted production.
• Lead supply recovery during shortages or disruptions.
• Track metrics like supplier performance, cost savings, inventory, and on-time delivery.
• Support new product introductions by sourcing/qualifying new materials and suppliers.
• Ensure compliance with company policies, environmental regulations, and industry standards.
