Job summary

Houston Methodist is seeking a Manager Research Operations to oversee the administration, planning, and budgeting for the Houston Methodist Academic Institute (HMAI). You will guide staffing, develop policies, ensure compliance, and drive operational excellence across the department.

The role requires strong leadership, experience in healthcare operations, budget oversight, and the ability to coach staff while aligning with regulatory and accreditation standards to support research activities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a Health Science, business, or related field.
• Three years of progressively responsible experience within a healthcare professional/ administrative/laboratory management capacity, including one year in a people management/lead role.
• Experience in clinical research management preferred

Responsibilities

• Performs management responsibilities of selection, scheduling, supervision, retention, and evaluation of department staff.
• Provides development and mentoring of staff; conducts performance appraisals and coaching for improvements.
• Facilitates department process improvements and promotes effective team dynamics.
• Plans and organizes day-to-day department operations, schedule, and activities; ensures high customer/patient satisfaction.
• Manages/maintains laboratory environment and safety compliance; coordinates with facilities and health services.
