Job summary

Qualifications

• Knowledge of research agreement types, standard terms, and flow-down requirements for federal awards.
• Knowledge of IP, publication, confidentiality, indemnification, and data use provisions.
• Skill in negotiation and in communicating legal positions to non-legal audiences.
• Ability to recognize negotiable terms vs. legal determinations requiring counsel.
• Ability to manage concurrent negotiations against external deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Drafts, reviews, and negotiates assigned agreements against templates.
• Identifies terms creating institutional risk and negotiates acceptable terms or escalates.
• Executes agreements within delegated authority with complete documentation.
• Advises investigators on terms, timelines, and post-execution requirements.
• Issues and amends subawards with required flow-down provisions and monitoring.
