Job summary

The University of Kansas Health System is seeking a Budget Analyst for Microbiology to provide budget planning, financial analysis, grant management, payroll oversight, and procurement support within the SOM KC Department of Microbiology, Molecular Genetic and Immunology. You will collaborate with faculty and administration to ensure fiscal stewardship and compliant operations.

Qualifications

• Four years of progressively responsible experience in budgeting, accounting, finance, grants administration, or related business operations.
• Experience analyzing financial data and preparing financial reports.
• Experience using Microsoft Office applications.

Responsibilities

• Review and approve BPC purchases using State of Kansas purchasing rules and funding agency requirements; enter transactions in Workday.
• Review lab purchasing requests, verify funding, enter requisitions, and manage documentation in Workday.
• Maintain PI spending tracking and monthly lab reports to avoid overexpenditures for senior admin and PIs.
• Enter travel requests and reimbursements in Workday following state and university requirements.
• Provide spending analyses and projections to senior administration as needed, at least monthly.
• Assist with billing and expenses for the flow cytometry core lab and related service contracts.
• Assist the Chair and Senior Admin with pre-award submissions, data entry for faculty CVs, and equipment purchases.
