Job summary

Verus Specialty Insurance, a member of the W.R. Berkley Corporation, is seeking a Renewal Underwriter to assess and underwrite risks within a book of business.

You will work under broad supervision, maintaining strong broker relationships and applying underwriting guidelines to qualify risk acceptability. Responsibilities include negotiating coverage, meeting production metrics, and delivering excellent client service while traveling as needed.

Qualifications

• College degree or equivalent work experience in the insurance industry; designations are a plus.

Responsibilities

• Under broad supervision, underwriter will assess risks in a book of business.
• Maintain and develop broker relationships.
• Identify new product line opportunities and apply underwriting standards to qualify risk acceptability.
• Negotiate coverage issues and close sales; ensure customer satisfaction.
• Meet or exceed line of business production metrics.
• Provide timely, courteous service to clients.
