Job summary

SSOE is seeking a Director of Strategic Marketing & Client Pursuits in Nashville to lead pursuit strategy and proposal leadership across the firm. You will collaborate with C-suite and BU leaders to shape the business plan and align messaging with client needs.

You will coach distributed pursuit teams, drive strategic marketing plans, and oversee content, materials, and campaigns. Expect a high-impact, cross-functional role shaping client outcomes.

Qualifications

• 10+ years in B2B marketing, proposal management, or pursuit strategy.
• 5+ years leading teams, including distributed or multi-site teams.
• Know RFQ/RFP mechanics, SF330s, and hard deadlines.
• Write and edit exceptionally well, turning dense technical input into client-focused narratives.
• Comfortable pushing back on senior leadership when strategy or messaging isn't right.
• Hold strategy and execution sessions in the same day.
• Bachelor's degree in marketing, communications, journalism, business, or related field.

Responsibilities

• Direct the full proposal process from opportunity qualification to post-decision debrief.
• Collaborate with the C-suite and leadership to develop the SSOE business plan.
• Coach pursuit teams on differentiated messaging and client-centered value propositions.
• Establish standards, templates, and reusable content to raise quality and speed.
• Oversee board or executive level report outs and presentations as needed.
• Recruit externally when necessary to support pursuit capacity.
