Job summary

Delta Light Group North America is seeking a Purchasing Agent to support daily purchasing activities, ensuring on-time delivery of materials for production and customers. You will collaborate with planning, inventory, production, and engineering to maintain POs, obtain supplier quotes, and resolve shortages.

Responsibilities include creating POs in SAP, reviewing pricing, expediting overdue items, and maintaining supplier records.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required; college coursework in business, supply chain, or related field preferred.
• One to two years of purchasing, inventory, administrative, or manufacturing experience preferred.
• Experience with an ERP system preferred; SAP S/4HANA experience is a plus.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Outlook, and Word.
• Strong attention to detail, follow-up, and communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively with suppliers and internal teams.
• Basic understanding of purchase orders, pricing, lead times, and inventory.

Responsibilities

• Create and maintain purchase orders in SAP, confirming part numbers, quantities, pricing, and delivery dates.
• Review material requirements with planning and production to support scheduled orders.
• Request supplier quotes and compare pricing, lead times, and purchasing terms.
• Review purchasing history and verify pricing before issuing purchase orders.
• Follow up on open purchase orders, obtain supplier confirmations, and update expected delivery dates.
• Expedite overdue materials and communicate shortages or delivery risks to the team.
• Coordinate with engineering to confirm specifications, drawings, and approved substitutions.
• Work with receiving and suppliers to resolve quantity discrepancies, damaged materials, and incorrect shipments.
• Assist accounting with purchase order and invoice discrepancies.
• Maintain accurate supplier records and purchasing documentation.
• Follow purchasing approval requirements and elevate issues when needed.
• Support inventory accuracy and continuous improvement efforts.
