Job summary

Jobot is seeking a seasoned Purchasing Manager in Escalon, CA to lead vendor relationships, negotiate terms, and align purchases with production schedules. You will monitor pricing trends, manage purchase orders, and drive cost reduction initiatives across a steel fabrication team.

The ideal candidate has 5+ years in purchasing within engineering or manufacturing, strong negotiation and communication skills, and experience with procurement software to ensure on-time delivery and budget

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, Engineering, or related field.
• Minimum of 5 years of purchasing experience in engineering or manufacturing.
• Proven vendor management, negotiation, and procurement experience.
• Strong knowledge of production planning and cost-reduction strategies.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to use purchasing and inventory management software.
• Strong organizational skills and teamwork ability.

Responsibilities

• Manage vendor relationships and ensure supplier quality and delivery standards.
• Negotiate contracts and pricing agreements with suppliers.
• Track and forecast pricing trends and their impact on activities.
• Coordinate purchase schedules with production schedules.
• Communicate with project managers and foremen to meet needs.
• Track and manage purchase orders, ensuring on-time delivery and budget.
• Monitor supplier performance and implement corrective actions.
• Contribute to cost reduction initiatives.
• Oversee procurement processes in line with company policies.
• Prepare RFQs, evaluate proposals, and select suppliers by price, quality, and delivery speed.
• Develop and implement purchasing strategies to meet business goals.
