Job summary

Johnson & Johnson Surgical Vision is seeking a Purchasing Manager in Milpitas, California. The role leads daily purchasing operations, drives supplier performance, and ensures material availability to support reliable production while maintaining quality, cost, and inventory targets.

You will manage a high-performing buying team, conduct S&OP with strategic suppliers, and apply Lean and continuous improvement methods to protect schedules and strengthen purchasing controls.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required; MA/MBA preferred.
• Minimum 5 years of relevant work experience.
• Advanced experience with ERP systems (SAP preferred).
• Ability to develop, coach and lead a team of buyers and team leads.
• Clear written and oral communication across all levels of the organization.
• Ability to drive continuous process improvement on large projects.
• Proficient user of MS Office, Excel, Word, PowerPoint.

Responsibilities

• Oversee daily department operations and personnel, building a high-performing team.
• Lead monthly S&OP reviews with strategic suppliers to align priorities and actions.
• Balance buyer workloads to ensure effective coverage for projects.
• Standardize work practices and cross-train team members for continuity.
• Resolve supplier invoice discrepancies promptly to prevent credit holds.
• Track material shortages and implement timely mitigation plans.
