Job summary

Addison Group is seeking a Purchasing Manager in Waukegan, IL, onsite 8 am–5 pm CT. You will oversee procurement, lead a team, and collaborate with Sourcing and Quality.

The role emphasizes cost control, supplier performance, and alignment with Lean/JIT practices to support supply chain goals. You will drive sourcing strategies, manage POs, and partner with Finance to monitor budgets while optimizing inventory and material planning using ERP/MRP systems.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain, or a related field.
• Equivalent work experience in purchasing or procurement may be considered.
• 7+ years of progressively responsible procurement experience.
• 5+ years managing a team of 6+ direct reports.
• Strong understanding of purchasing principles and supply chain management.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage the purchasing team, including recruiting, developing, training, and mentoring staff.
• Coordinate daily activities of the purchasing department and ensure smooth operations.
• Develop and execute purchasing strategies to meet material and supply needs on time.
• Collaborate with the Sourcing Manager to improve supplier performance and cost efficiency.
• Monitor and optimize inventory to reduce warehousing costs and support JIT procurement.
• Partner with Quality, Manufacturing, and Planning to align procurement with operations.
• Drive cost-saving initiatives and procurement process improvements.
• Ensure compliance with policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
• Oversee purchase orders and ensure timely processing and delivery of materials.
• Track key purchasing KPIs and budgets in collaboration with Finance.
