Job summary

DIS-TRAN Steel is seeking a Purchasing Manager in Louisiana to lead the purchasing function and optimize supplier performance, cost, delivery, and internal customer service. You will manage a team, establish policies, and drive data-driven improvements across procurement processes.

You will collaborate with finance, operations, and engineering to ensure accurate data, compliant controls, and timely purchasing decisions in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated purchasing, procurement, supplier management experience.
• Experience supervising employees or leading cross-functional purchasing processes.
• Ability to evaluate supplier proposals and total cost within authority.

Responsibilities

• Own and administer the purchasing process, including policies, procedures, and approvals.
• Train teams on purchasing requirements and monitor compliance.
• Lead purchasing team, set priorities, coach, and ensure timely results.
• Review queues, open orders, pricing changes, and escalation handling.
• Approve supplier selections and purchasing transactions.
• Ensure PO accuracy reflecting pricing, quantities, and delivery.
• Coordinate urgent needs and communicate risks to leadership.
• Evaluate suppliers on capability, pricing, lead time, and quality.
• Lead supplier negotiations on pricing and terms.
• Monitor supplier performance and implement corrective actions.
• Partner with Finance on cost projections and payment controls.
• Oversee data accuracy in Epicor and related systems.
• Develop purchasing metrics and drive process improvements.
