Job summary

Mac Papers is seeking a Buying Group Manager in Jacksonville, FL to lead a buying team and optimize inventory purchasing processes. You will partner with the Director of Supply Chain Analytics to maintain stock levels and balance timely availability with inventory costs.

Responsibilities include overseeing daily purchasing, vendor negotiations, contract management, and cross-functional collaboration to improve fill rates and profitability.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in business, supply chain, or related field (master’s preferred) or equivalent experience.
• 8+ years of progressive experience in procurement or supply chain management with increasing responsibility.
• Minimum 2+ years supervising buyers or purchasing staff.
• Strong leadership and people management skills.
• Experience in wholesale distribution; paper, packaging, or janitorial/sanitation products a plus.
• Proven track record of strategic procurement and inventory management.
• Excellent negotiation and contract management skills.
• Analytical mindset with data-driven decision making.
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
• Knowledge of industry regulations and compliance standards.
• CSCP/CPSM certification is a plus.
• Advanced Microsoft Office skills (pivot tables, VLOOKUP, etc.).
• Experience with ERP and inventory replenishment systems (Infor, SAP, Epicor, or similar).
• Able to work independently and manage multiple priorities.

Responsibilities

• Purchasing Performance: oversee daily buying to ensure accuracy and on-time PO placement; improve fill rates and turns.
• Team Leadership: build and lead a high-performing purchasing team; provide direction and development opportunities.
• Strategic Supplier Management: negotiate lead times, order quantities, pricing, and terms with vendors.
• Cross-functional Collaboration: align inventory strategies with business objectives across departments.
• Cost Control: lead cost-saving initiatives and monitor expenses to improve profitability.
• Contract Management: manage procurement contracts and ensure compliance.
• Regulatory Compliance: maintain adherence to laws, regulations, and standards.
