Albemarle County Public Schools seeks an experienced and collaborative Assistant Chief Financial Officer to provide strategic leadership across the Department of Finance and Budget, partnering with the CFO and elected officials to maintain financial integrity, drive operational excellence, and deliver high-quality public services in Charlottesville, VA.

The role oversees offices including Controller, Grants & Agreements, Management & Budget, Procurement, Real Estate, Revenue

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in accounting, economics, public administration, business, finance, or related field.
Eight years of progressively responsible experience in public administration, budget development, financial, audit, or business management.
Two years of management experience leading staff, presenting to governing bodies or executive leadership, and leading major projects.
Valid driver's license and County driver eligibility.

Responsibilities

Provide operational oversight and strategic leadership over the Department of Finance and Budget offices.
Serve as Acting CFO in the CFO's absence.
Lead and develop high-performing teams and communicate with elected officials, executives, employees, and the public.
Ensure financial integrity, operational excellence, and commitment to exceptional public service.
