Job summary

Albemarle County is seeking an experienced Assistant Chief Financial Officer to lead the Department of Finance and Budget. The role reports to the CFO and oversees multiple divisions including Controller, Grants & Agreements, Management & Budget, Procurement, and Revenue Administration.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Economics, Public Administration, Business Administration, Finance, or a closely related field.
• Eight (8) years of progressively responsible experience in public administration, budget development, financial, audit, or business management, or a related field.
• Two (2) years of management experience leading staff, addressing complex organizational issues, presenting to governing bodies or executive leadership, and leading significant projects or strategic initiatives.
• Valid driver's license and the ability to meet the County's driver eligibility requirements.

Responsibilities

• Provide operational oversight and strategic leadership over a portfolio of finance and budget offices.
• Serve as Acting CFO in the absence of the CFO.
• Communicate complex financial information to elected officials, executive leadership, employees, and the public.
