Job summary

Kirkland & Ellis is seeking a Public Relations Manager within the Communications team of the Firm’s Marketing and Business Development (MBD) department. You will partner with senior leadership, attorneys and colleagues to develop and execute communications strategies that strengthen the Firm’s reputation and showcase its market-leading capabilities.

You’ll drive media relations, develop thought leadership opportunities and serve as a trusted advisor to Firm spokespersons across global teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in journalism, PR, communications or English.
• Proven ability to craft compelling content for diverse audiences.
• Experience building media strategies and managing press relationships.
• Strong judgment and discretion in high‑profile situations.
• Excellent project management and organizational skills.
• Executive presence when advising senior leaders.
• Collaborative mindset across functions, offices and time zones.
• Proficiency with MS Office, AP style and communications tech.

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain relationships with journalists and media outlets to raise visibility for practice areas and firm leaders.
• Develop and execute integrated public relations programs aligned with firm objectives.
• Write, edit and distribute press releases, pitches and internal communications.
• Coach attorneys and firm spokespeople for interviews and speaking engagements.
• Translate complex legal topics into clear, concise messages for various audiences.
• Collaborate on campaigns linking earned media, social media and events.
• Track media coverage, analyze impact and support reporting.
• Partner with leadership and cross‑functional teams to advance communications priorities.
• Share knowledge and mentor junior team members.
