Job summary

Kirkland & Ellis is seeking a Public Relations Manager in Chicago to lead media relations and craft strategic communications that strengthen the Firm's reputation across global markets.

Reporting to the Associate Director of Public Relations, you will partner with senior leaders, attorneys and cross-functional teams to develop programs, secure top-tier coverage and manage thought leadership opportunities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree and 8+ years in communications/marketing roles, preferably in PR agency, law firm or professional services.
• Exceptional written and verbal communication with ability to produce polished, engaging content.
• Experience developing media strategies and managing press relationships.
• Ability to navigate high-profile or sensitive situations with professionalism and discretion.
• Strong organizational skills to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
• Comfort partnering with senior leaders and advising stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain relationships with journalists and media outlets to raise visibility.
• Develop and execute integrated PR programs aligned with firm objectives.
• Write and distribute press releases, pitches, award submissions, and internal communications.
• Coach attorneys and firm spokespeople for interviews and public appearances.
• Translate complex legal topics into clear, engaging messages.
• Collaborate on campaigns connecting earned media with digital channels and events.
• Track media coverage and evaluate program effectiveness.
• Partner with attorneys and leadership to advance communications priorities.
• Share knowledge and mentor junior team members.
