Job summary

San Bernardino County is seeking a Purchasing Manager to oversee procurement of goods, supplies, equipment and services for County departments, districts and affiliates. The role monitors compliance with policies and develops procedures, providing leadership within a centralized purchasing function.

Ideal candidates have five years of procurement experience with two years in supervision, and a Bachelor's degree in a related field; Master’s may substitute for one year of experience.

Qualifications

• The candidate must have a completed Bachelor's degree in purchasing/supply management or related field.
• Five (5) years of procurement or direct buying experience, with two (2) years in full-scope supervision.
• A Master's degree may substitute for one year of experience.

• Degrees from outside the U.S. require evaluation for equivalency.

Responsibilities

• Manage the department's procurement program for goods, supplies, equipment and services.
• Monitor compliance with procurement policies and develop policy and procedures.
• Provide leadership and supervision to the procurement staff.

Education

Bachelor's degree in purchasing/supply management, business/public administration, economics, accounting, finance or related field

Master's degree substituting for one year of experience

CPPB certification

CPSM certification
