Job summary

OAS seeks a Project Officer (DED) to lead and coordinate programs promoting trade, economic development, entrepreneurship, and MSME growth across the Americas. You will oversee design, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation of initiatives, collaborating with member states, partners, and donors.

The role requires experience in project management at national/international levels, strong analytical and coordination skills, and the ability to manage large-scale events and capacity-building

Qualifications

  • Essential: First University Degree in political science, law, international relations, business administration, economics or related fields and 7 years of experience in similar positions including project management at national and/or international level
  • Advanced University Degree (Master's) in one of the fields listed and 4 years of relevant experience
  • Desirable: Experience or knowledge of the OAS mandates and priorities as related to the area of work

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate, implement, monitor, and evaluate projects, programs, and initiatives related to trade, economic development, competitiveness, innovation, entrepreneurship, and MSME development
  • Manage the planning and execution of events such as the Inter-American Dialogue of High-Level MSME Authorities and ACE editions
  • Assist in development and implementation of initiatives that strengthen MSME competitiveness and ecosystems
  • Contribute to design and implementation of trade-related capacity-building activities and policy dialogues
  • Monitor regional and global developments and prepare analytical reports, briefs, speeches, talking points, and recommendations
  • Develop and maintain productive relationships with member states, international organizations, private sector, chambers, universities, and civil society
  • Coordinate meetings, conferences, workshops, missions, and high-level events organized by DED
  • Participate in fundraising, donor engagement, proposal preparation, and project development
  • Assist in the negotiation, implementation, monitoring, and reporting of cooperation agreements and donor-funded projects
  • Prepare and review technical and administrative documentation including reports, concept notes, budgets, work plans, and publications
  • Monitor project budgets and expenditures and coordinate administrative and financial actions in accordance with OAS rules
  • Maintain databases and monitoring systems related to DED initiatives and prepare periodic reports
  • Represent DED in meetings, technical discussions, conferences, and inter-agency coordination activities
  • Support cross-cutting DED initiatives and collaborate with other departments
  • Perform other related duties including replacing and backstopping for others
