Job summary

DHL Global Forwarding is seeking a Program Manager for the Government & Defense Sector in the United States. The role will lead strategic programs across Air/Ocean Freight, Customs, and specialized logistics for government agencies and defense contractors.

You will coordinate cross-functional teams, drive program performance, and ensure compliance with all regulatory and security requirements while identifying growth opportunities and managing stakeholder communications.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in supply chain, logistics, business administration or related field.
• 5-8 years of experience in logistics, freight forwarding, supply chain, defense logistics, government contracting, or program management.
• Experience managing large customer accounts or complex logistics programs.
• Strong knowledge of air/ocean freight, customs brokerage, and multimodal transport.
• Experience with government agencies, defense contractors, or regulated industries preferred.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate end-to-end logistics across Air Freight, Ocean Freight, Customs Brokerage, and specialized transport.
• Lead customer governance activities: reviews, quarterly business reviews, and steering meetings.
• Support growth opportunities within existing government and defense accounts.
• Contribute to RFQs, RFPs, and contract bids with operational insights.
• Ensure compliance with government regulations, security requirements, and customer standards.
• Coordinate ITAR, classified or sensitive shipments with Security, Legal, Customs, and Trade teams.
• Support compliance with government contracting requirements and internal policies.
• Lead implementation of new programs and operational enhancements.
• Manage project timelines, milestones, and stakeholder communications.
• Track outcomes: service improvements, cost savings, and efficiencies.
