Job summary

Smurfit Westrock in Marion, NC is seeking a Production Planning Specialist to create and optimize daily manufacturing schedules that meet customer needs and maximize efficiency.

As Scheduler, you will manage forward and backward scheduling, coordinate with operations, customer service and outside services, and prepare routine reports. The role requires strong organization, attention to detail, and teamwork in a safety-driven environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Minimum 3 years of work experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Strong organizational and follow-up skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
• Ability to adapt to fluctuating workloads.
• Willingness to travel occasionally.
• Able to work independently and in a team.

Responsibilities

• Creates daily manufacturing schedules to meet customer needs.
• Plans using forward and backward scheduling, and batch scheduling.
• Coordinates outside services and communicates with customer service.
• Prepares weekly backlog and monthly WIP reports.
• Participates in daily production meetings and tracks order status.
