Job summary

Applied Optoelectronics, Inc. (AOI) is seeking a Production Control Planner to support day-to-day manufacturing execution by planning, scheduling, and coordinating work-orders and material readiness.

You will work with Production, Material Control, Purchasing, Engineering, Shipping, Inventory, and Global Sourcing to ensure plans meet delivery requirements. Reporting to the Manager of Production Control, you will evaluate demand, build delivery plans, issue production orders, coordinate

Qualifications

• Authorized to work in the United States; visa sponsorship not available.
• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, Operations Management, Industrial Engineering, or a related technical field.
• 1-3 years of relevant experience in production control, manufacturing operations, or supply chain operations.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel with PivotTables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, and charts.
• Experience with ERP, MRP, or production work-order systems.
• Understanding of how production schedules, material availability, work orders, and customer delivery requirements interact in a manufacturing environment.
• Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills with high attention to detail.
• Clear written and verbal communication; ability to coordinate across departments.
• Ability to work independently and adapt to a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate demand, create and adjust production schedules as capacity and priorities change.
• Track work orders and schedules to completion, flag delays or priority changes.
• Confirm material availability with Material Control and identify shortages affecting schedules.
• Coordinate production activity with internal teams and overseas/partner sites to align priorities.
• Create and follow up on production orders, track consignments and inventory, issue shipping instructions.
• Resolve material, technical, or scheduling issues with Global Sourcing, Engineering, and Material Control.
• Coordinate urgent orders across Production, Material Control, Purchasing, Inventory, and Shipping.
• Identify root causes of constraints and coordinate actions to keep production moving.
• Keep stakeholders informed of urgent issues and expedite constraints.
