Job summary

Applied Optoelectronics, Inc (AOI) is seeking a Production Control Planner to manage day-to-day manufacturing execution through planning, scheduling, work order coordination, material readiness, and expediting. You will work with Production, Material Control, Purchasing, Engineering, Shipping, Inventory, and Global Sourcing to align plans with material availability and customer delivery requirements.

The role reports to the Manager of Production Control and emphasizes identifying risks early,

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, Operations Management, Industrial Engineering, or related field.
• 1-3 years of experience in production control, manufacturing operations, or supply chain operations.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel (PivotTables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, and charts).
• Experience with ERP/MRP or production work-order systems to track orders, materials, inventory, or production activity.
• Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills with high attention to detail.
• Clear written and verbal communication across cross-functional departments.

Responsibilities

• Develop production schedules and issue or adjust production orders based on capacity, materials, and priorities.
• Track work orders and production schedules through completion, identifying constraints or delays.
• Confirm material availability and identify shortages that could affect the schedule.
• Communicate production status, schedule changes, and risks to stakeholders, flagging issues early.
• Analyze production data and prepare regular reports on status, delivery risks, and expedited orders.
