Job summary

LIGHTHOUSE FOR THE BLIND in St. Louis, MO is seeking a procurement professional responsible for direct sourcing of raw materials, components and services in a manufacturing setup.

You will collaborate with production planning, finance and logistics to ensure on-time deliveries and issue resolution. The role focuses on strategic sourcing, supplier negotiations and contract reviews, vendor relationship development and inventory planning.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required, Bachelor’s Degree or Certification preferred, preferably in business, supply chain management, or related field
• 2 years relative experience in procurement/purchasing within a manufacturing environment required, 2-5 years preferred
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word and ERP software (Microsoft Dynamics 365, specifically Business Central a plus)
• Strong ability to communicate and negotiate with vendors and across departments
• Ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment
• Willingness to learn and grow within the purchasing function
• Familiarity with inventory management systems
• Analytical mindset and problem-solving ability

Responsibilities

• Strategic sourcing, purchasing and maintaining of raw materials and stock items
• Overseeing special projects including government contracts as assigned
• Collaborate with internal departments including production, finance and logistics to ensure on-time delivery and project deadlines
• Support the development of long-term relationships with company approved vendors
• Participate in supplier negotiations and contract review
• Analyze supplier lead times, minimum order quantities and make recommendations for cost efficiencies
• Generate purchasing orders and update supplier pricing
• Participate in supplier scorecard evaluations, feedback and corrective action conversations
• Other duties as assigned
