Responsibilities

• Process and approve complex purchases within a specific commodity grouping to meet departmental needs for goods and services; establishes specifications, prepares proposals, reviews bids, and ensures proper documentation.
• Audit for contract compliance to identify and proactively manage problems and resolve issues.
• May serve as agent for UH Purchasing Department with state and federal agencies, vendors, UH System Administration, and the campus community.
• Provides guidance and assistance to requisitioning departments regarding purchases; act as a liaison between vendors and departments for order status, procurement procedures, and problem resolutions.
• Maintains awareness of most current market trends and techniques to ensure the most cost-efficient purchases.
• May provide guidance to clerical support staff.
• Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
