Job summary

Roskam Foods, based in Grand Rapids, MI, seeks an experienced Senior Procurement Leader to design and execute strategic sourcing for raw materials, packaging, and indirect goods. You will manage supplier relationships, analyze market trends, and collaborate with R&D, Quality, Operations, and Finance to drive cost reductions and improved value.

Responsibilities include leading cross-functional projects, mentoring staff, ensuring FDA/USDA compliance, budgeting support, and sustaining supply

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a related field required.
• 7-10+ years procurement experience.
• 2+ years in a leadership role.
• Strong negotiation and analytical skills.
• Experience with ERP systems and supplier performance evaluation.

• Independently and with team, manage supplier relationships to meet quality, cost and delivery targets.
• Analyze market trends, pricing, and risks to inform procurement decisions.
• Collaborate with R&D, Quality, Operations, and Finance to support product innovation and efficiency.
• Lead supplier performance via KPIs, scorecards, and reviews.
• Identify cost reduction and value improvement initiatives.
• Ensure compliance with FDA/USDA and company policies; support budgeting and forecasting.
• Mentor junior procurement staff; participate in cross-functional projects on sustainability and continuity.

We are passionate about multiplying possibilities for our employees and our partners.Roskam Foods produces and packages food products with the goal of consistently meeting and exceeding customer expectations for quality, safety, and wholesomeness.Key Essential Functions/Duties:Collaborate with company leadership to design and execute strategic sourcing strategies for essential categories such as raw materials, packaging, and indirect goods.Independently and in collaboration with team members, identify, evaluate, and manage supplier relationships to ensure quality, cost, and delivery targets are met.Analyze market trends, commodity pricing, and supply risks to inform procurement leadership of vital decisions.Collaborate with R&D, Quality, Operations, and Finance to support product innovation and operational efficiency.Manage supplier performance for the entire organization through KPIs, scorecards, and regular business reviews.Identify and execute cost reduction and value improvement initiatives.Ensure compliance with food safety regulations (e.g., FDA, USDA), company policies, and ethical sourcing standards.Support budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning for procurement categories.Lead or participate in cross-functional projects related to sustainability, risk management, and supply continuity.Mentor and guide junior procurement staff as needed.Education/Experience/Skills/Qualifications:Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, or related field.7-10+ years of procurement experience.2+ years of experience in a leadership position.Strong negotiation, analytical, and communication skills.Proficiency in ERP systems (e.g., Microsoft AX, SAP, Oracle, JD EdwardsProficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.Knowledge of sourcing strategies, contract management, and supplier performance evaluation.Preferred Skills:Experience in market-based buying strategies.Advanced degree or certification in procurement or supply chain (e.g., CPSM, CSCP, CPIM).Experience with lean manufacturing or Six Sigma methodologies.Experience with food manufacturing.Familiarity with global sourcing and logistics.Tolling and turnkey model experience.Experienced in overseeing teams operating in various locations, including remote and hybrid environments.Roskam Foods offers a competitive compensation package that includes medical, dental, and vision benefits, tuition reimbursement, life and disability insurance, and a 401 (k) plan with company match.AAP/EEO Statement: Roskam Foods is a recognized veteran-friendly and equal opportunity employer.We are excited to introduce you to all that Roskam has to offer—from the many valuable benefits to programs that support your lifestyle needs and opportunities for professional development.
