Job summary

The Senior Buyer role at Beaufort County's Procurement Services supports the procurement staff with solicitations, negotiations, and contract execution for products and services. The position monitors term contracts and purchase orders, coordinates online auctions, and assists with P-Card administration in coordination with the Deputy Director.

It also trains departments on procurement processes, prepares procurement reports, and assists with year-end close-out while maintaining confidentiality

Qualifications

• High School graduation or GED with coursework equivalent to one year of college.
• 1–2 years progressively responsible purchasing/procurement experience.

Responsibilities

• Represent the department in meetings with county departments and administration.
• Assist Deputy Director with contracts and maintaining procurement data.
• Provide contract and PO support; monitor contracts and notify vendors/departments.
• Assist with writing solicitations, contracts, bid results, and vendor registry updates.
• Administer the County's surplus electronic auction program with sales coordination.
• Train departments staff on procurement processes and procedures.
• Aid with electronic requisition/PO management and coordinate with AP.
• Assist P-Card Administrator with training and usage by departments.
• Support year-end close-out of purchase orders and related activities.
• Communicate purchasing needs and advise on policies and procedures.
• Help departments obtain best price for supplies, equipment, and materials.
