Job summary

Core & Main is seeking a procurement specialist to support purchasing and inventory decisions. You will generate performance reports, monitor product lines, and coordinate with management to optimize stock levels and profitability.

You will evaluate daily purchasing data, confirm pricing, work with vendors on shipments, and push for timely confirmations to maintain optimal inventory and cost control across assigned categories.

Qualifications

• Broad-based procurement and inventory experience.
• BS/BA in related discipline; MS/MA may be required in some areas.

Responsibilities

• Evaluates daily purchasing reports, prioritizes purchase orders by critical need; ensures orders meet optimal levels to maximize profit and sales.
• Obtains confirmations, verifies pricing and quantities, follows up with vendors to correct issues or re-request confirmations, attaches confirmations to POs, and manages confirmations record.
• Works the Back Order Queue and Expedite Queue and keeps ship dates accurate for the field. Coordinates with vendors for updated shipment information.
• Conducts analysis and correction of price discrepancies utilizing accounting partnerships.
• Leverages management input to ensure target freight levels are achieved to maximize profit margins.
• Evaluates and manages dead stock materials, no calc, and aged inventory. Manages inventory/fill rates for assigned categories.
• Negotiates prices with vendors. Proactively seeks products/vendors to obtain best pricing as appropriate.
• Handles some commodity purchasing under the general direction of the Purchasing leader.
