Job summary

Core & Main is a leading distributor of water, wastewater, storm drainage and fire protection products with nationwide reach. We are seeking a Purchasing professional to negotiate with vendors, review quotes, and manage procurement from quote to delivery.

The role emphasizes data analysis, inventory accuracy, and timely order fulfillment. The position supports materials flow from vendors to customers, ensuring pricing and specifications align with business needs and company profitability.

Qualifications

• BS/BA in related discipline required or equivalent.
• 0-2 years of experience in procurement or related field, MS/MA allowed with 0-1 year.
• Experience using inventory management systems is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Review procurement queue and analyze items for potential purchases.
• Ensure material is placed on order and follow up on delivery, specs, and pricing.
• Coordinate flow of material from vendor to customer.
• Handle order changes, cancellations, and related fees.
• Evaluate daily purchasing reports to prioritize orders for profit and sales.
• Maintain purchasing parameters in inventory systems.
• Initiate and verify price changes in the inventory system.
• Monitor open orders and update projected delivery dates.
