Job summary

General Dynamics Land Systems is seeking a Procurement Buyer to lead end-to-end purchasing and subcontracting. You will analyze materials in Oracle/MRP, solicit and evaluate supplier RFQs, RFPs, and RFIs, and perform cost analyses to guide sourcing decisions.

You will negotiate with suppliers to meet program cost and schedule targets, prepare purchase orders, and ensure on-time delivery while controlling costs.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management or a related business discipline.
• 7-10 years of experience in a similar procurement or buying role.
• Proficiency with Oracle MRP or other MRP-based purchasing systems.
• Demonstrated experience in cost and price analysis, including formal write-ups.
• Willingness to travel domestically on occasion and internationally as required.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Strong problem-solving and program management abilities.
• Proven business acumen and sound judgment.
• Ability to work effectively in a team environment to achieve objectives and performance metrics.
• Ability to perform under pressure, meet deadlines, provide timely updates, and clearly communicate status to stakeholders.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and internet-based business applications (preferred but not required).
• Solid understanding of procurement processes, systems, and MRP.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities, organize the workday effectively, and maintain an accurate buying deck.

Responsibilities

• Manage end-to-end procurement and subcontracting activities.
• Analyze material needs in Oracle/MRP systems and evaluate supplier RFQs/RFPs/RFIs.
• Perform cost and price analysis to support sourcing decisions.
• Negotiate with suppliers to meet program cost and schedule targets.
• Prepare and administer purchase orders and subcontracts; ensure on-time delivery and cost control.
• Serve as the main link between suppliers and GDLS teams; coordinate source selection and manage quality, design and payment issues.
• Ensure compliance with procurement laws and regulations.
