Job summary

Alabama Power is seeking a Buyer to handle sourcing and procurement activities supporting Plants Calhoun, Central, Greene County, Lindsay Hill, Sabic and the NCCC. Responsibilities include locating sources of supply, issuing RFQs, analyzing bids, negotiating, creating purchase orders for inventory, non-stock materials, and services, expediting, and resolving supplier problems.

The Buyer will spend substantial time communicating with business unit partners to ensure seamless procurement

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, business, finance, engineering preferred.
• Supply chain or legal certifications are a plus.
• Procurement, sourcing or contracting processes experience preferred.
• Experience in transactionally intensive roles preferred.
• Maximo Purchasing system experience preferred.
• Utilities or heavy industry experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Source and procure for Plants Calhoun, Central, Greene County, Lindsay Hill, Sabic and the NCCC.
• Issue RFQs, analyze bids, negotiate and create purchase orders (inventory, non-stock materials and services).
• Expedite and resolve supplier problems while coordinating with business unit partners.
