Job summary

Alabama Power seeks a Buyer to support sourcing and procurement for Plants Calhoun, Central, Greene County, Lindsay Hill, Sabic and the NCCC. The role includes locating sources of supply, issuing RFQs, analyzing bids, negotiating terms, and creating purchase orders for inventory, non-stock materials, and services.

The Buyer spends significant time communicating with business unit partners while expediting orders and resolving supplier issues to ensure continuous, reliable power delivery.

Qualifications

• Strong relationship building and communication with business partners required.
• Ability to handle multiple priorities and a demanding workload.
• Experience in procurement, sourcing or contracting preferred.
• Experience with Maximo purchasing system preferred.

• Source and procure for Plants Calhoun, Central, Greene County, Lindsay Hill, Sabic and the NCCC.
• Issue requests for quotes and analyze bids to drive value.
• Negotiate terms and conditions, create purchase orders for inventory, non-stock materials and services.
• Expedite orders and resolve supplier problems promptly.
• Collaborate with business unit partners to meet procurement goals.

Job Summary

The Buyer position is responsible for sourcing and procurement activities supporting Plants Calhoun, Central, Greene County, Lindsay Hill, Sabic and the NCCC. Duties include locating sources of supply, issuing requests for quotes, analyzing bids, negotiating, creating purchase orders (inventory, non-stock materials, and services), expediting, resolving supplier problems, and other supply chain duties as required. The Buyer spends considerable time and effort communicating and engaging with their business unit partners while performing the duties listed above.

• Business programs such as Word and Excel

Education

• Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, business, finance, engineering – preferred
• Supply chain or legal certifications are a plus
