Job summary

The NYC Department of Health and Mental Hygiene (NYC Health Department) seeks a Deputy Privacy Officer to join the Office of General Counsel. You will provide legal counsel on privacy and data security, draft and negotiate privacy agreements, and support policy development and incident response for a large city health agency.

This role requires NYS Bar admission and relevant experience in privacy law, with strong research, writing, and reporting skills.

Qualifications

• Admission to the New York State Bar.
• One year of satisfactory United States legal experience after admission to any state bar.
• Incumbents must remain Members of the New York State Bar in good standing.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Chief Privacy Officer in handling day-to-day matters, priorities, and legal assignments for the Privacy Unit.
• Draft, review and negotiate data privacy and security agreements (cloud security agreements, end user license agreements, terms of service, privacy policies).
• Draft, review and negotiate contracts with vendors procured by the agency.
• Develop and implement policies for data privacy and security.
• Support investigations of security incidents and notifications to impacted individuals.
