Job summary

AlphaX is seeking an experienced Pre-Construction Manager to lead estimating, budgeting, planning, and preconstruction for commercial projects across the Kansas City metro area. You will oversee projects from pursuit through preconstruction, ensuring a seamless handoff to operations and building strong client and vendor relationships.

The role requires deep preconstruction experience, strong communication, and the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a dynamic environment.

Qualifications

• Experience in preconstruction estimating and budgeting for commercial construction.
• Strong ability to read drawings, specs, and contracts for scope and risk.
• Experience with multiple delivery methods (design-build, CMAR, negotiated, bid).

Responsibilities

• Lead preconstruction efforts from pursuit through turnover to operations.
• Prepare conceptual estimates, budgets, cost analyses, and project pricing.
• Review drawings and contract documents to identify scope gaps and risks.
• Coordinate with owners, architects, engineers, subcontractors, vendors and internal teams.
• Manage preconstruction across design-build, CMAR, negotiated, select bid and hard bid projects.
• Conduct constructability reviews and identify value engineering opportunities.
• Develop bid packages and analyze subcontractor proposals.
• Identify cost risks and scheduling issues early in the process.
• Assist with procurement planning, scheduling, and site logistics.
• Collaborate with project management and field teams for smooth transitions.
